Interested in Teaching?
There is a dedicated ITT team made up of Strategic Partner and Alliance colleagues who work together to secure high quality entrants to the profession, to liaise with other partners and providers in order to ensure high quality placements, to promote a creative approach to trainees’ school experiences and to take advantage of some of the new opportunities and alternative ways of ways of working.
The ITT group are currently looking closely at the training and recruitment of ITT mentors and seeking ways to provide a more standardised experience of ITT through the sharing of good practice, to include shared induction events at the start of placements. Wider Alliance projects include successfully bidding for
School Direct places which continues to grow from year to year. See our dedicated School Direct pages for more information.

School Experience Placement (SEP)
Graduates who are interested in becoming teachers can visit the Teaching Agency website and register for a School Experience Placement (SEP) http://www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching/school-experience/sep.aspx in their local area. They will have the chance to observe in a school over a period of several days to experience first-hand the work of a teacher. It is hoped that nearly all schools in the Alliance will offer SEP places; currently Millais School offers places on the programme in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, French, German and Italian. Participants must have a 2.1 to be eligible, except in Mathematics, where a 2.2 is also acceptable.
